Coaching Philosophy

Pneuma Multisport is a triathlon and swim coaching business founded by Coach Chris Wegner. The brand is built on a technique-first, athlete-centered coaching philosophy with a strong Stoic influence — emphasizing discipline, presence, simplicity, and purposeful action. The name "Pneuma" reflects the deeper mission of coaching the whole person, not just the athlete.

About Coach Chris: Chris brings over 20 years of triathlon racing experience and a lifetime of multi-sport competition including 35+ years of soccer (collegiate level), basketball, track, football, and baseball. He has qualified for the Ironman World Championship and multiple Ironman 70.3 World Championships. His coaching philosophy is grounded in three core pillars: technique first, consistency always, and the whole athlete at the center of the process. He is known for being patient, honest, communicative, and deeply invested in each athlete's personal growth and success.

Coaching Style & Philosophy: Chris coaches with a Stoic-inspired approach — helping athletes focus on what they can control, embrace the process, and build resilience through challenge. He emphasizes mastering fundamentals before chasing speed, developing sustainable training habits, and understanding the "why" behind every session. He meets athletes where they are, whether they are stepping into the pool for the first time or preparing for a World Championship.

Mission: To empower athletes through a technique-first, athlete-centered approach that builds confidence, efficiency, and long-term success — supporting their mindset, celebrating their progress, and fostering joy in the process so every athlete feels capable, supported, and inspired to become the best version of themselves in sport and in life.
